Postcard Watercolor Finished!
My son started fussing towards the end of writing my signature and I accidentally wrote that the year was 2012. lol I guess that adds a story to this piece though. I'm really excited to add this as a print on my etsy shop but I literally am -$5 in my bank account thanks to their stupid $6 service fee if I don't use my debit card 6 times each month. INSERT CUSSING STORM HERE!!! I get charged money to not spend money??? ARE YOU SERIOUS??????????? yea. What has the world come to...
Anyway, I have to deposit some money just to bring it back up enough to have the $0.20 to post a sale on there. sooooooo lame.

New Copic Markers!
Marker haul!
Went to Jerry's Artarama here in Austin, TX. They have the best prices! And colors that I can't find at Michael's but at the same time, they are usually sold out of a lot of colors. Thankfully I usually find those at Michael's so between the two I have managed to get a good collection going.
My Copic collection is now to 33 and I have 18 Touch brand markers.
Also in the photo you can see I got some watercolor postcards. My MIL found them and we both agree that moving to smaller projects is the way to go for our busy schedule lives. I'm excited to be able to do watercolor on a small scale since having a 1 year old, I feel like I don't have time for anything bigger than this.
The cool thing is these really do have all the usual post card markings on the backside so they are ready to be sent off after you paint it and put a stamp in the square. First one I make will be some flowers and I'm gonna send it to my Grandma.
And here is some inspiration... drool! Hope I can someday be this good!

This was done by Dark Persian from Deviant Art... she's so good that part of me wants to give up, and the other part wants to keep trying!

Passionate Art Folks
![]() |
| Work-in-Progress Art by me; Katie Reed 11-02-2011 palindrome day! |
I guess as an Aquarius with Gemini Rising I had always been open-minded to people from all walks of life... but inwardly
craving a passionate depth submerged with childlike imagination.
Now, I'm literally isolated at home all day watching my 1 yr old son (bless him! I love him so much!) which is very rewarding
if not challenging as well... but I'm sincerely saddened by my lack of friends. It's especially clear to me now that many of the
people I associated with prior to becoming pregnant had vastly differing ambitions... and only now do I see how important
it truly is to associate with similar goal oriented persons.
Maybe it is the beer fermenting with the barbeque sauce in my tummy at midnight speaking....
but dammit, I want some REAL CRAZY ART FRIENDS!!!!!!
Especially, since I just found myself asking my man about whether or not I should dispose of the coffee I made 2 days ago
in the hopes of staining some paper for a poem commission piece I'm working on.... but I hadn't finished drawing the guide
lines for the calligraphy... and I was asking him if I should just go ahead and use the coffee and draw the guidelines later or
skip them all together and freehand the calligraphy... or if I should just pour out the coffee and start all over.
VERY SERIOUS SHIT TO AN ART OBSESSED WOMAN. But apparently, completely incomprehensible to an "art muggle".
I NEED ART FRIENDS!!!! GAH! Who else will understand my woes over sable brushes vs. synthetic fibers!?!?! Or mixing
cheap vs. expensive watercolors and they clash on your painting leaving behind mineral deposits... who else will understand.
Shit is seriously debilitating not being understood...

Today's Artist
Hope Gangloff. Probably my biggest inspiration of all time.
I can't even begin to describe the joy that washes over me when I see those contrasting colors, the texture of the bic pens, and the deeply familiar subject matter that I find all too charming.

Her father did illustrations for The Magic School Bus. Can you believe it? She's even done some of them as well.
Here she is in her art studio... Love it!
And again.

Inspiration post...
Lately, I have been obsessing over Copic marker art on DeviantArt.com. I have a folder dedicated to these as well as tutorials by DA members in the hopes that someday I can be just as good. Enjoy.... xoxoxo!
